Should I build my pool before my house?

With South East Queensland block sizes reducing with every new land release the need to install the pool before the build is becoming a far more economical choice. The pool building company will have access to your block with no building and construction blocking their way making it easy for excavators, soil removal trucks and pool shell delivery cranes or concrete trucks to do their jobs quickly and efficiently. Typically they will get the initial install basics completed and then put the project on hold until your house construction is complete. Upon hand-over they will then return and continue on with coping, filtration and finishing services.

While this often saves thousands, if not tens of thousands of dollars by opting for this process, one cost that may crop up in its place is a Pool Void Cover – also known as a Pool Platform or Construction Cover. This is a safety measure your building company may require in order for their trades and services to safely work near the void your pool has created. Typically this is required in conjunction with a temporary pool fence but some builders have tight access and the pool cover offers fall hazard protection as well as pool safety protection. To ensure the cover complies with building regulations and meet the OH&S requirements a Form 15 may also be requested following install.
